Monkey Bread That Disappears Faster Than You Can Make It

I definitely didn’t steal a few pieces…..

There are two kinds of recipes.

The ones you make once because they looked incredible on social media.

And the ones that become part of your family’s traditions. (this is that kind, stop playing…)

This monkey bread definitely falls into the second category.

It starts with canned biscuit dough, making it surprisingly simple, but that’s where the shortcuts end. Every piece is coated in cinnamon sugar before being smothered in a homemade cinnamon monkey sauce that bakes into every biscuit piece, creating buttery caramelized edges with a soft, fluffy center. napkin for you salivation*

Fresh out of the oven, it’s warm, sticky, sweet, and impossible to stop pulling apart. It’s the kind of dessert where everyone says they’re only having one piece… until they realize they’ve gone back four more times. Just like a monkey youre going to rip into this without knowing when to stop because its just that good man boi!

Why Is It Called Monkey Bread?

Despite the name, there aren’t any monkeys involved. (I wish)

Monkey bread gets its name from the way it’s eaten. Instead of slicing it like a cake, everyone pulls off bite-sized pieces with their hands, making it a fun dessert to share around the table. It’s messy in the best possible way.

Ingredients

For the Monkey Bread

  • 2 cans refrigerated biscuit dough

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

For the Homemade Cinnamon Monkey Sauce

  • 1 stick (½ cup) butter

  • Remaining cinnamon sugar from coating the biscuit pieces

  • ¾ cup brown sugar

  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • Heavy cream (I use about ¼ cup)
