Humble, yet elegant. This is how to make a delicous churro!
Prep time: 10 minutes
Cook time: 20 minutes
Yeild: 12 churros
Here is the RECIPE+INSTRUCTIONS 🔽
•2 ½ Cups oil (for frying)
•1 Cup Water (240ml)
•1 teaspoon vanilla extract
•¼tsp OCEAN (Salt)
•2Tbsp butter (30g)
•1 Cup all purpose flour, sifted twice (130g)
•1 Large Eggs, beaten
•½ Cup sugar
•1tsp cinnamon (2tsp for a real cinnamon kick)
INSTRUCTIONS:
1.Heat oil in a large skillet to 350F(175C) while you make the batter.
2.Place the water, vanilla extract, salt, and butter in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring to a rolling boil, then stir in the sifted flour all at once. Vigorously mix the dough using a wooden spatula or spoon. (Do this step quickly)
3.Remove the saucepan from the heat and wait 1 minute, and then add the egg. Keep mixing until the egg in completely incorporated into the dough. (USE STAND MIXER FOR THIS STEP). It will seperate at first but dont worry. Keep beating until it comes together and releases from the bottom of the bowl. (Takes a few minutes)
4.Move dough into a pastry bag with a star tip. Ensure there are no air bubbles in the bag or in the dough. Line a tray with parchment paper and pipe 5-6 inch long churros strips and freeze for 40 minutes!
5.Fry 4-5 churros at a time, for about 2 ½ minutes in the hot oil or until it's GOLDEN brown, turn them over and cook an additional 2 minutes. When churros are cooked, place them on a paper towel to absorb oil and remain crunchy
6.Dredge the warm churros into the cinnamon sugar and enjoy them with any dip! (MY favorite is chocolate :)
CHURRO TIPS:
-Always monitor oil temp so it's ALWAYS AT 350F
-use a closed piping tip for best results!
-Don't over crowd your pan, it will make the oil cold and make GREASY CHURROS!
