\(RECIPE! \)
  • 7 Cups water (divided)

  • 50g Flor de Jamaica (hibiscus flower)

  • 1/2C sugar (3/4C for more sweetness)

\(HOWTO!\)

  1. Filter out small particles of the flower by putting it through a colander.

2. Wash then strain the flower quickly. no need to wash them for more than 20 seconds.

Simmer 3 of the 7 cups of water until hot. Add in the hibiscus flowers and sugar and simmer for 3 minutes. Take it off the heat and continue letting it steep for 25 minutes!

4. Once steeped, strain out the flowers from the liquid and allow to cool completely.

5. Add the remaining water into the cooled mixture and ice! stir well until cold and BOOM, refreshing drink for the summer.

TIPS FOR BEST DRINK!

  • Allow to cool in the fridge completely before adding ice for maximum flavor

  • use good quality hibiscus flowers - deep red/Burgundy color, whole petals, should have a sweet citrus smell and if it doesn’t its probably old

  • Add a splash of citrus (orange juice for tangy sweet or lime for tart and tangy)

  • when steeping add ginger or cinnamon stick and remove when done steeping.
